چکیده

Abstract Background Cattle are intermediate hosts of six Sarcocystis species, among which hominis and heydorni can infect humans through the consumption raw or undercooked meat. In addition to zoonotic potential, there is increasing interest in these protozoa because evidence supporting role spp. occurrence bovine eosinophilic myositis (BEM), a specific inflammatory myopathy leads carcass condemnation considerable economic losses. Actually, all prevalence studies carried out on cattle Italy have been based either morphological 18S rDNA-based molecular techniques, most likely leading misidentification closely related species. Therefore, strong need for new data different their association with myositis. Methods To reach our aim, individual striated muscle samples from BEM condemned carcasses ( N = 54) diaphragm randomly sampled 59) were obtained Northwest slaughterhouses. Genomic DNA was extracted analyzed by multiplex-PCR targeting rDNA cox1 genes. PCR products amplified using genus-specific primer set absence fragment S. hirsuta , cruzi bovifelis sequenced achieve species identification. Results detected 67.8% slaughter 90.7% carcasses. identified as prevalent (61%), followed (10.2%), (8.5%) (1.7%). Notably, detected, presence significantly higher isolated (46.3% 40.7% respectively), while no statistically significant difference between (42.6% 1.8%, respectively) Furthermore, sequence analysis revealed putative two Conclusions Our study contributes updating Italy, highlighting three spp., lesions allowing us speculate possible major sarcosporidian involved Graphical

Molecular and Microscopic Detection of Theileria spp. among Cattle and Buffaloes in West Azarbaijan, Iran

Bovine theileriosis is an important tick-borne disease caused by intraerythrocytic parasites from genus Theileria. This study sought to detect the theileriosis among cattle and buffaloes using molecular and microscopic tests in West Azerbaijan, Iran. For this purpose, 484 blood samples from 193 cattle and 291 buffaloes were collected during March to July 2014. The breed, gender, age, and habita...

Eosinophilic myositis resulted from Sarcocystis infection in prime marbled beef of Japanese black cattle

Partial changes of color (greenish to brownish) were found in prime marbled beef of Japanese black cattle. The disseminated lesions of the skeletal muscles were histopathologically examined in relation to Sarcocystis infection. The lesions in the muscles showed granulomas with inflammatory cell infiltration. The sarcocysts had a distinct wall, which was radically striated by palisading villar p...

Eosinophilic myositis due to Sarcocystis hominis in a beef cow.

A case of eosinophilic myositis (EM) in an 8-year-old beef cow was investigated. The animal originated from a herd in which a high incidence of the disease had been observed in slaughtered adult females over a period of 2 years. Histologically, the lesions in the muscles were characterized as granulomas with a central core of degenerate eosinophils and remnants of necrotic muscle fibres, surrou...

Association of Bovine Lactoferrin Gene with Mastitis in Frieswal Cattle

ThirtyFrieswal lactating cows were screened for clinical and subclinical mastitis and subsequently classified into healthy, subclinically affected and clinically affected groups each group comprising of 10 cows. Polymorphism of cow lactoferrin (LTF) gene promoter was determined by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP). The results showed that LFT gene pro...
